We were incredibly lucky to host Sonia Altizer as BRC seminar speaker last week. Sonia endured the ‘hot seat’ and interrogation by the lab and friends (that is Avery with the green t-shirt looming large on the left of the photo). Sonia gave a fantastic talk on how changing migration shapes infection dynamics, with a particular focus on the monarch butterfly and its debilitating protozoan parasite, Ophryocystis elektroscirrha. She has set an unfairly high bar for the seminar series.
